The Highstar Team is pleased to inform you that on December 15th, 2007, International Financing Review ("IFR") announced in its 'Review of the Year 2007' issue, InterGen, N.V. will be awarded the 2007 IFR European High-Yield Bond of the Year Award for the Companys US$1.879 billion high-yield bond offering that closed in July, 2007.
The honor will commemorate InterGen's highly successful execution of its corporate refinancing which closed this summer in very difficult markets with limited changes to the deal terms and minimal pricing flex amid extremely volatile credit market conditions.
In its article, IFR mentions various accolades of the deal and notes that "despite a market in crisis, InterGen became the last 2007 high-yield deal successfully priced" and noted the bond offering was "the only summer deal to outperform in the aftermarket". Innovative execution, combined with realizing attractive terms and limited covenants, were also mentioned as part of the rationale for granting the award.
I believe this achievement is a demonstration of the quality of the InterGen management under the skilled direction of Highstar Partner Michael Miller and Highstar MD Chris Beall, who led the entire financing process. The lead investment banks on the transaction were Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch. I believe the importance of the Highstar relationship to both banks was a key driver of their perseverance in a very challenging market.
Please join me in congratulating these contributors on a job well done and for receiving this highly distinctive honor.
Sincerely,
Christopher Lee
Managing Partner
